Despite decades of research, pancreatic cancer remains hard to beat and the 5-year survival rate in different countries is in the range of 5 to 15%.
The research team led by Dr. Carrato at IRYCIS (Spain) showed that hereditary pancreatic cancer can be KRAS mutation negative and harbor specific mutations in other genes that could be potential targets in the clinic. Finding new and innovative therapeutic options for these patients is essential to overcome resistance to traditional treatments and improve their overall survival.
To drive progress in cancer survival is key to understand risk factors, improve prevention, and promote earlier diagnosis and better treatment. Let’s drive progress together on the #worldcancerresearchday Let’s support cancer research to make research work everywhere. #researchworks #irycis... See MoreSee Less
Today is the BIG day: the WORLD CANCER RESEARCH DAY.
Together and with the right resources we can support cancer research to enable advances in cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment. We invite you to be part of this global movement. Join us to drive progress together against cancer.
At the World Cancer Research Day event, several challenges were discussed: the cost and complexity to pursue impactful cancer research in some world regions the need for clinical trials everywhere the need to have sustainable funding and resources the need for policies to support research. And the following top priorities were highlighted: better understanding of genetics and molecular profiling better understanding of what drives the tumor individualization of prevention, screening and treatment strategies Do you want to know some of the strategies that are working to support research? Watch now the WCRD event www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-8L_IUuSbA! & Dr. Seo’s youtu.be/nflXJQxONzY from NCCK explaining how Korea increased the survival rate of all cancers from 43% to 70.4% in just 20 years #WorldCancerResearchDay #researchworks ... Today is #WorldCancerResearchDay! Did you know focused ultrasound has the potential to treat cancer through noninvasively destroying malignant tissue or enhancing chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapies?
Listen as our Chief Scientific Officer, Jessica Foley, PhD, speaks with Jill O’Donnell-Tormey, PhD – CEO of the Cancer Research Institute – and Theresa LaVallee, PhD – VP of Translational Medicine and Regulatory Affairs at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy – about #cancerimmunotherapy, #focusedultrasound, and how CRI and PICI are working with the Foundation to advance cancer research and bring innovative new immunotherapy treatments to patients.
